This art book is an edition of two, made for my mother and I. The text is from the hymn “Blest be the ties that bind,” a favorite of mine in childhood.

I used hand-dyed fabric my Mother made for the two covers, and wove cotton string through the covers to create both pattern and closure. The text block is handmade paper, couched with string between the two layers of pulp, to create a natural hinge and connection between each sheet.
