In February, I took a bookbinding course with Frank Hurley at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and we learned how to sew signatures onto tape as an internal step for making hardcover books. I thought making this ornamental would be pretty, and allow a lot of flexibility in the spine, resulting in a book that lays almost flat. To secure the ribbon, I wove each piece through the hard cover, and secured with decorative studs.
